Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Chittorgarh on Monday in the Mevad region looked different when he left Jaipur.
After paying a visit to the shrine of Lord Sanwaliya Seth in the Mevad region, he arrived at the rally venue.Rajasthan Congress chief C.P. Joshi, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Opposition leader Rajendra Rathore, and other prominent leaders welcomed him. However, this time PM Modi targeted Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his government more than focussing on the Central government’s schemes, stressing that his government would implement Congress’ schemes more effectively.
PM Modi said that even if Chief Minister Gehlot is defeated in the upcoming Assembly polls, the schemes launched by his government will be continued by the BJP government.
This was PM Modi’s tenth visit in a year. So far, he has tried to touch every part of the state, inaugurating and laying the foundation stones of nine development projects worth Rs 7,000 crore in Chittorgarh.
Modi came to Chittorgarh after four-and-a-half years. Before this, the PM had visited Chittorgarh on 21 April 2019. Interestingly, Chittorgarh is the Parliamentary constituency of BJP state president C.P. Joshi.
Mevad includes six districts—Banswara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Rajsamand, Udaipur, and Pratapgarh. There are in all a total of 28 Assembly seats in the Mevad-Vagad region, where the BJP has dominance. In the 2018 elections, BJP had won 15 seats out of 28, while Congress won 10 seats, and others 3.
