The victim’s family is staging a protest and sit-in outside the office of the Jalore district collector over the murder of Amrit Devasi in the Ahor region. The aggrieved family has been continuously protesting for the third day today. The family alleges that even after filing an FIR, the police have not arrested the culprits behind Amrit Devasi’s murder, leading to ongoing protests.
This incident is not isolated in the Ahor region, several such incidents have occurred recently, and the police administration’s response has been inadequate. The police only provide assurance to the victims’ families without tangible action. Frustrated by this, the family has resorted to protesting outside the district collector’s office.
Approximately three families of victims are staging a joint protest. In recent times, the increase in the series of murders in the region and the police’s handling of these cases has raised concerns. If the police do not promptly arrest the culprits, the protests are expected to continue.
The victim’s family has warned that if the culprits are not arrested soon, they may resort to an indefinite hunger strike in the future. The entire district administration will be held responsible in case of any untoward incident during the protest.
