Following the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct, various agencies have become more vigilant. From 9 October to 13 October, more than Rs 51.26 crore worth of drugs, alcohol, gold, and cash were seized. Additionally, over the past two and a half months, different agencies have seized drugs, alcohol, gold, and cash valued at over Rs 221.2 crore.
The Chief Election Officer, Praveen Gupta, has mentioned that this information has been reported by various agencies in the state. In the past week, cash worth Rs 5.62 crore, drugs worth around Rs 22.57 crore, alcohol worth Rs 3.47 crore. Apart from this, Rs 4.76 crore worth of gold and silver was seized.
Additionally, freebies worth Rs 14.84 crore were confiscated. Gupta also stated that in the past month, cash exceeding Rs 19 crore, intoxicants worth Rs 86.1 crore, and alcohol, gold, and silver worth Rs 38.9 crore were seized, along with freebies valued at Rs 46.7 crore. These agencies include the state police, state excise, narcotics department, and income tax department.
