BJP lawmaker GH Thippa Reddy reported an unidentified person to the cybercrime police for allegedly attempting to lure him into a honeytrap. On October 31, the incident took place in Chitradurga, Karnataka.
MLA Thippa Reddy allegedly received a video call from an unidentified number, according to the FIR. The MLA picked up an inappropriate video call from a woman who was nude when she responded. The MLA promptly ended the call.
The MLA then received the pornographic video on his phone. The MLA reported it to the cybercrime police, thinking it would be a case of honeypotting. A case was opened by the Chitradurga cybercrime police in accordance with Section 67 A of the IT Act.
There are further investigations in progress.
