Advantage BJP in MP, Raj; Cong in Chhattisgarh & Telangana

Before the voting on December 3, exit polls conducted by various agencies on Thursday evening revealed possible outcomes for BJP, Congress, and other parties. As Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are having elections first, most agencies have worked on exit polls there and attempted to provide analysis.

Talking about the exit poll figures, in Madhya Pradesh, there is going to be a tough competition between BJP and Congress. While India Today’s poll favours BJP, according to the ABP News exit poll, Congress is leading. Similarly, other agencies have shown a close contest between both parties. The BJP fought the poll under a largely collective leadership while Congress projected former Chief Minister Kamal Nath as its chief ministerial face.

The last state assembly polls in 2018 saw the Congress coming to power, with Kamal Nath taking oath as the chief minister. Later, Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with 22 MLAs, switched over to the BJP and Chouhan again assumed office as Chief Minister of the state.

Meanwhile, in Chhattisgarh, almost all exit polls are favouring Congress. If this holds true, Bhupesh Baghel might become the Chief Minister again. In Telangana, two major surveys have emerged. Jan Ki Baat and India TV CNX have given an advantage to Congress.

To secure a majority, 60 seats are required. Jan Ki Baat has given Congress a maximum of 64 seats. Meanwhile, India TV CNX has projected Congress with a minimum of 63 and a maximum of 79 seats. BRS also places both agencies at the second spot. Other parties are expected to win between 3 to 7 seats.

In Mizoram, the JD (U) is emerging as a strong force in exit polls, although the MNF is also putting up a tough fight. There is not much difference in the seat counts between the two.

On the other hand, Congress is making efforts to change the tradition in Rajasthan this time. Meanwhile, BJP is striving to return to power once again by changing the government. Though the results are due on Sunday, exit polls have already disrupted Congress’ peace of mind.

Being a crucial state, everybody’s attention too is focused on the outcome of the Rajasthan’s polls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda held several rallies and roadshows for BJP here.

While leaders from the Congress party including Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, former President Rahul Gandhi, National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, and other leaders held public meetings. The Congress in the state had entered the election arena with its plans focusing on issues like BJP’s atrocities against women and corruption.

It’s noteworthy that the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has 200 seats. A majority requires 101 seats. However, this time due to the demise of Congress candidate Gurdeep Singh Kunner in the Karanpur seat of Ganganagar district in Rajasthan, there is no election taking place there.

Therefore, until the elections are held in the Karanpur seat, a majority will be at 100 seats. Meaning whichever party secures 100 legislators will form their government.
