ADGP Jail summoned over Moosewala murder case accused Lawrence Bishnoi’s interview

The Punjab-Haryana High Court has summoned the ADGP Jail over an interview released in March 2023 by Lawrence Bishnoi, the accused gangster in Sidhu Moosewala’s murder case. The court issued this order due to the government’s failure to submit the investigation committee’s report.
The High Court directed the ADGP Jail to appear in the next hearing and provide details regarding the actions taken so far in this case. It seeks information on steps being taken to prevent mobile phone smuggling in prisons. The Court noted the seriousness of the matter, stating that despite the government seeking more time to submit a detailed response, the case is extremely grave. The government had requested an additional one-and-a-half months to submit a detailed response.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s inaction, the High Court instructed the ADGP Jail to appear and provide answers. Advocate Tanu Bedi, assisting the Court in this case, mentioned the formation of an investigation committee in March but highlighted the incomplete investigation thus far. This remains a significant question. The High Court emphasized the gravity of the government’s actions and awaited further steps.
