Additional Chief Secretary urges youth to create AIDS awareness

Additional Chief Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, Shubhra Singh addressed the National Red Ribbon Quiz Competition-2024 function organized by the Rajasthan AIDS Control Society on the occasion of National Youth Day at Rajasthan International Center on Friday.
During this, he said, “The concept of a prosperous India lies only in a healthy India. Our young generation should become partners in nation-building by adopting a healthy lifestyle.” He said that the Prime Minister has conceptualised a developed India. His vision is that for a developed India, along with economic progress, it is also necessary for the health of the citizens of the country.
He said, “AIDS is a complex disease. Prevention is its main treatment. He said that the young generation can play an important role in creating awareness to prevent AIDS.”
Jail Inspector General Vikram Singh said that meaningful steps are being taken with the joint efforts of the Jail and Medical Department. Diseases like HIV, syphilis, hepatitis, TB etc. are being prevented in jail reform homes, Nari Niketan, child reform homes and de-addiction centers. In this direction, more than 3 lakh 50 thousand prisoners and residents have been examined in the state. Counselling and treatment have been provided to prisoners suffering from these diseases.
Dr Anoop Puri, Deputy General Manager of NACO, gave information about the causes, prevention and treatment of AIDS. He said that due to the efforts of NACO, awareness regarding prevention of HIV has increased. He said that HIV will not become a public health problem in India in the future.
The ISHTH (Integrated STI, HIV, TB and Hepatitis) campaign was also launched. This campaign will be run from 12 January to 28 February 2024 with the collaboration of the Medical and Health Department, Rajasthan AIDS Control Society, Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Jail Department and Child Empowerment Department.
