In a recent development, the Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police has apprehended a suspect in connection with a theft case. The arrested individual has been identified as Anil Kumar, also known as Batishi, and is a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, Chandigarh. Notably, Anil Kumar, alias Batishi, has previously been detained by Chandigarh Police in five separate theft cases. Authorities have revealed that the accused is grappling with drug addiction, which led him to resort to theft to sustain his habit.
According to details provided by DSP Crime, Udaypal Singh, and Inspector Ashok Kumar, the arrest was made following a complaint filed by Soni Gupta, a resident of Shastri Nagar, Manimajra, Chandigarh, regarding a theft from her residence. Acting swiftly on received intelligence, law enforcement officers apprehended the accused near Bapu Dham Park, Back Side Police Line Sector 26, Chandigarh.
During the arrest, police recovered various stolen items from the possession of the accused, including two Motorola mobile phones, one gold mangalsutra, two pairs of gold earrings, two rings, two nose pins, a gold coin, one pair of silver anklets, and two silver bangles. The apprehended suspect is currently in police custody, pending further investigation into the matter.
