AAP’S STAND ON SYL CREATES STIR AMONG HARYANA LEADERS

The issue of Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal between Haryana and Punjab has taken a new turn following the statement of Haryana Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Gupta.

Aam Aadmi Party Haryana in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Gupta.

Gupta had said that SYL water will reach Haryana’s fields if the party forms government in 2024. He further said that this is not their promise but guarantee.

His statement led to a ruckus in the political circles as the leaders of ruling party BJP in Haryana asked AAP to clarify its position in Punjab.

Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjjer said that the party should have come ahead to clarify its stand on SYL resembling its position in Haryana.

Gupta’s statement added to the woes of his party in Punjab as all factions in the state are putting pressure on the party to clarify its stand. The AAP government and cabinet ministers, along with party stalwarts in Punjab, do not seem to be in a position to support Gupta.

Reacting to Gupta’s statement, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said that there is no harm in having dreams in this country and and if Sushil Gupta said so then he should start digging the remaining portion SYL in Punjab without any delay.
