Forty-six jawans of the Bihar Military Police (BMP) tested positive for Covid-19, informed Additional Director of Police Jitendra Kumar on Monday. The number of coronapositive cases have been on a rise after a retired jawan in BMP camp tested positive. The entire department has been put on high-alert and according to ADG Kumar, appropriate steps are being taken to ensure the virus doesn’t spread.
The BMP camp number 14 is in close proximity to a nearby hotspot in Khajpura Patna, where 19 cases have been detected so far. All the 360 jawans in this particular camp are being monitored and their samples have been sent to a lab for testing. Of the 360, 46 samples have been tested positive.
In the last couple of days Bihar has witnessed a spurt in Covid-19 cases due to an influx of migrant workers from across India and this instance of contamination in the BMC has created new challenges for the state government.
