40th alumni reunion of 1984 batch held at Dr. SSBUICET

The 40th alumni reunion of 1984 batch of Dr. Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Panjab University was held today. The program commenced with a presentation by the Chairperson, Prof. Anupama Sharma highlighting the achievements of the department and the importance of a robust alumni network in elevating any institution to its zenith.

Prof. Anupama Thakur, Coordinator Food Technology, in her presentation, highlighted the achievements made in the Food Technology discipline and urged the alumni to help in the placements.

18 Alumni from 1984 batch of Dr. SSBUICET (Formerly Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology) participated in the event. Dr Anuradda Ganesh, Dr.Manoj Ajbani, Dr.Arun Kumar, Samir Chowdhary, Girish Khanna, Sanjay Celly, Sandeep Gariyali, Rakeah Puri, Parijat Mukherjee, Dinesh Lalwani, Kamal Tandon, Pritiah, Sharad Gupta, Sanjeev Angra, Sharad Kumar, Dharminder Kapoor, Jagdeep Shah Singh and Raman Jain shared their mantras for success.

The mantras conveyed to the current students included hardwork, good communication skills, teamwork, diversification, adapting transitions, healthy lifestyle, integrity and honesty. They were thrilled to learn the expanded curriculum that included graduate programs, joint MBA program and a Food Technology degree program as well. They were glad to learn that the female to male ratio has increased to almost 50 percent from their time,and also the faculty comprising of majority of females.

To revitalise the spirit of reunion, spectacular music and Bhangra performances were given by the students of the department.The alumni shared their experiences and felt that reunion is a must for cherishing memories of the golden time spent together. They discussed about the ways to contribute to the institute and provide support to the department in all possible ways.

During the interaction, Prof. Sharma expressed gratitude to all the alumni who graced the occasion with their benign presence. After the interaction with students and faculty, the alumni enjoyed the lunch at Boys Hostel No. 3, especially Rajmah Chawal and relived their memories of time spent at the hostel.
