Election Commission does not want to have any loopholes in the security amid the preparations for Bengal’s by-elections. According to sources, the number of central forces is being increased to tighten the security in Bhabanipur with just a few hours left before the polls. Initially, it was decided to deploy 15 companies of paramilitary forces at the center. However, keeping in mind the recent situation, that number has been increased to 20 more companies. In other words, a total of 35 company troops will patrol in Bhabanipur alone tomorrow.
The IG, BSF and ADG (Law and Order) met with the commission to work out how the additional troops will be deployed. It is learned that heavy radio flying squads will be deployed at 9 places in the assembly constituency to ensure security during the polls in Bhabanipur. Besides, 6 mobile vans will be deployed. 23 RT mobile vans will be present for action as per any situation. On the other hand, according to the commission sources, 9 police stations under Bhabanipur have also been asked to be on high alert. There will be 2,573 policemen tomorrow across the entire assembly constituency. Commission sources further said that all the booths in Bhabanipur have web casting system.
