20,839 POSTS LYING VACANT IN HOME DEPARTMENT IN HARYANA

CHANDIGARH: The home department is one of the most important parts of any state that plays a vital role in maintaining law and order along with other responsibilities. What came to the surface is that nearly 30% of the total posts are lying vacant in the state which is a matter of serious concern. A lack of staff affects the working of the department undoubtedly. The data represented in Haryana Vidhan Sabha during the monsoon session revealed that as many as 71068 are sanctioned posts in the department and out of these, 50230 posts are filled while the rest 20839 posts are lying vacant which includes the posts of IPS, additional SP, inspector, sub-inspector, assistant sub-inspector, head constables and constables in male and female categories. Thus nearly 30 of the total posts are still vacant and filling these posts is the need of the hour. It is pertinent to mention that the state government has written to the concerned agency to fill nearly 9000 posts in the department.

Out of the total 144 sanctioned posts of the IPS officers, 109 are filled while the rest 35 are yet to be fulfilled. Apart from this, a total of 329 sanctioned posts of the DSP belong to Haryana Civil Services (HCS) cadre and out of these 268 are filled. If we talk about the status of inspector rank, as many as 229 posts are lying vacant in the male category out of 1076. The data revealed that constable and head constable categories are among those which occupy the top rank in terms of vacant posts. There are a total of 43706 sanctioned posts and 12659 lying vacant. Constable category remains on the top with maximum vacant posts to be followed by 1272 posts of the head constable.

Further, it is worth mentioning that ministerial staff also exists as a crucial branch of the home department which looks after administrative work. Out of the total 682 posts, 208 are lying vacant which constitutes nearly 30%. While in the group-D category, out of the total 3998, as many as 1441 posts are yet to be filled which constitutes nearly more than 30%. In wake of this, it is pertinent to mention that the state government has sent a recommendation to the concerned agency to fill at least 9000 posts that are relieving to some extent and would undoubtedly be a positive aspect for the department.
