197th Gunner’s Day Celebrated at Chandimandir Military Station

The Regiment of Artillery celebrated its 197th Gunner’s Day at Chandimandir Military Station. The Gunner’s Day commemorates the Raising of 5 (Bombay) Mountain Battery, the first Indian Artillery unit on 28 September 1827. On this occasion, a wreath laying ceremony was held at ‘Veer Smriti’ in Chandimandir Military Station to pay homage to the brave hearts who have laid down their lives in service to the Nation.
The Regiment of Artillery has performed consistently in all roles assigned, be it in active operations, on the sports field and in all spheres of military endeavor. The regiment of artillery continues to strive for excellence and live up to its motto of ‘SARVATRA IZZAT – O – IQBAL’ meaning ‘Omnipresence with Honour and Glory.
