11 Ft King Cobra Rescued in Odisha

An 11-foot-long King Cobra, one of the world’s deadliest snakes, was successfully rescued from a residential house in Bangra village, Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, India on Tuesday, sent shockwaves through the local community.

The large reptile, weighing 6.7 kilograms, had slithered into the house in pursuit of prey, likely a monitor lizard. Villagers, upon discovering the snake, were understandably alarmed and contacted the local forest department. A team of experienced snake rescuers was promptly dispatched to the scene.

The rescue operation was delicate and required utmost caution given the snake’s venomous nature. The rescuers, equipped with specialised tools and protective gear, carefully maneuvered the King Cobra into a secure container.

After a tense standoff that lasted several hours, the snake was successfully removed from the premises.

The rescued King Cobra was later released into its natural habitat, the Dukra wildlife range, ensuring its safety and well-being. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of coexisting peacefully with wildlife and the potential dangers that can arise when human habitats intersect with those of wild animals.
