THE ISSUE OF RECRUITMENT IN VARSITIES CREATES RUCKUS IN HARYANA ASSEMBLY

The issue of conduction of recruitments in the state universities of Haryana led to the verbal spat and heated arguments among the ruling and opposite factions. Regarding the same, a calling attention motion was place in session by the Congress legislators saying the the universities are autonomous bodies and conducting the recruitments in the universities by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) and Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) is most likely affect their working as well their autonomy. Discussion over a string of issues including farmers, conduction of recruitment in universities by HSSC and HSSC scam led to verbal spat between both factions in assembly session.

While regarding the issue of universities, Leader of Opposition and the Congress stalwart Bhupinder Singh Hooda took a dig at the government saying that such steps are an attack on the autonomy of the educational institutions. Further, he said that like the withdrawal of the farm laws, the government will have to withdraw this new rule. Besides, a string of other Congress legislators namely Geeta Bhukkal, BB Batra, Raghubir Kadian, Jagbir Malik and many more opposed this decision.

While reacting to this, Manohar Lal, the Chief Minister Manhor Lal said that the government does not intend to interfere in the working of the universities.

Thus, the Issues related to autonomy of Universities in the terms of recruitment to various posts and issues related to farmers agitation dominated the proceedings of first day of winter session of Haryana assembly on Friday. Besides the verbal spat between the members of treasury and opposition benches, an aggressive appearance of INLD MLA Abhay Singh Chautala too was an attraction during the proceedings of the day which began with the obituary session initiated by CM Manohar Lal Khattar. Notably, during obituary session Abhay Chautala asked CM Khattar to include the names of 715 farmers who have died during the farmers struggle. However, leader of opposition Bhupinder Hooda added the farmers in his obituary address. Though there had been various incidents of verbal spats during zero hour as well as calling attention motion.
