RAJASTHAN MINISTER RAGHU SHARMA APPOINTED AS AICC IN-CHARGE OF GUJARAT

In the local body elections in Gujarat, the Congress has suffered a great loss. Now in Gujarat, the Congress does not even appear in the position of opposition. Then Rajasthan Health Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma has been made in-charge of the region to re-seat the Congress in the state. After being in charge of the region, there is a possibility that the president of the region and the leader of the opposition will be appointed soon. As the new state in-charge of Gujarat is special to Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, now only those who are special to Gehlot can be made the state president of Gujarat and the leader of the opposition. Now discussions are going on among the Congress workers that Gujarat Congress will run from Rajasthan.

According to a statement from Congress general secretary K. C. Venugopal, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has appointed Raghu Sharma in charge of the All India Congress Committee for Daman and Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli along with Gujarat. Dr. Raghu Sharma is currently serving as the Health Minister of the Rajasthan Government. He is an MLA from Kekri of Ajmer district. Former Gujarat Congress in-charge and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is considered very close. The post of Gujarat in-charge remained vacant as Rajiv Satav, who was in charge of the Congress, died due to corona. There has been speculation on many names for a long time but finally the Congress has announced the in charge of Gujarat.

State President Amit Chavda and Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani have resigned but it has not been accepted yet. Then, after the appointment as the new in-charge, a drastic change will be seen in the Gujarat Congress. From the state president to the Gujarat Congress, big changes will be seen. In Gujarat, the Congress has not tasted power for the last 25 years. In the 2015 elections, the results of local body were in favor of the Congress. After that, it could not get a single seat from Gujarat in the Lok Sabha elections. Since then, the Congress has lost the by-elections and the recently held Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation as well as local self-government elections.

As preparations for the 2022 Assembly elections are underway in Gujarat, an exercise has been carried out to appoint a young face as the Congress state president by putting aside senior Congress leaders. The youth wing of the Congress has failed in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation elections. Discussions are now underway among the party’s senior leaders to make radical changes. The Congress is still looking for young faces for region leadership. Only time will tell how successful the Congress will be in this, but sources say that the High Command is pushing for a young face to be appointed as the state president as the Congress is suffering due to the last-minute tussle of seniors.
