PEOPLE CONTINUE TO HAVE CASUAL APPROACH TOWARDS DEADLY DENGUE IN HARYANA

Coronavirus cases are on a decline as s few new cases are being reported a day in Haryana. But new cases of Dengue strike the state and nearly 150 new cases continue to surface in the state which added to the woes of the health department.

Even, after the huge spurt being reported in new cases of dengue, people in the state are having casual approach towards the disease and are not coming up with measures so that the disease can be controlled.

According to the data of the health department, 69310 house owners in the state have been served notice under Municipal Bye-Laws to control on Vector Borne Disease (VBD) where mosquito breeding has been found. Out of above-mentioned statistics, 63478 notices were served by teams of health department.

As many as 5832 were served by officials of the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) department in only three districts i.e., Gurugram (5615), Charkhi Dadri (172) and Rohtak (45). It is pertinent to mention that the health department is working with in collaboration with urban local bodies and rural development departments to tackle down the disease.

It has been relieving for the health department that there have been no deaths due to dengue in the state so far, but additional efforts have to be made to reduce the dengue cases as till now 60 percent patients who are testing positive for dengue.

It is pertinent to mention that similarly, the government has issued new guidelines regarding giving platelets to dengue patients, which will be shared with the concerned officials and doctors soon. Experts continue to utter that standing water is the number one breeding spot for mosquitoes. Mosquitoes breed by laying eggs in stagnant water.

Mosquito larvae live in standing water, the larvae require only minimal amounts of water, and even something as small as a puddle of water on a discarded plastic bag can house them. In spite of the advice by the health experts, the people are mocking at guidelines issued by the health department to prevent mosquito breeding.

Presently, the state continues to witness untimely raining so the people are required to take extra care. The monsoon season is one of the most vulnerable time when mosquito breeding increases so there are possibilities that cases of vector borne diseases may go up. In place of taking extra care, the people continue to breach the guidelines which is quietly evident from the notices issued to them for the same.

Regarding the issue, state Health Minister Anil Vij, said that he has directed the officers of the Health Department and all civil surgeons of the State to establish coordination with the Deputy Commissioner, Urban Local Department and Panchayati Raj Department officials in their respective districts in order to take necessary steps for prevention of dengue and also focus on intensive fogging.

In wake of the present scenario, the people are required to come with up proper arrangements to avoid so that mosquito breeding can be avoided. Besides, the teams of the health department would have to be activated for the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases and these teams should continuously check the larvae and also insist on spraying medicines etc.
