Mob Storms Police Station
According to the Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities (HRCBM), Utsav was taken into custody by police after allegations of blasphemy surfaced. Despite no forensic evidence supporting the claim, he was detained under police and military watch. A mob later stormed the station, violently attacking and killing the boy in a shocking display of public violence.

The HRCBM condemned the police and military for failing to prevent the attack, stating that their negligence made them complicit in the crime. “This act of mob lynching violates basic human rights,” the organization said in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The HRCBM expressed outrage over the absence of justice, as the perpetrators of the crime remain unpunished. They also criticized segments of the Bangladeshi media for downplaying the incident, with some claiming the lynching never happened. Muhammad Yunus, the interim government’s chief adviser, downplayed concerns of communal violence, arguing that the attacks on Hindus are exaggerated and more political than religious.
