Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, has officially accepted an invitation from CNN to participate in a debate scheduled for October 23. Her campaign made the announcement on Saturday, calling on Donald Trump to join the event.
In a statement, Harris’ campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, urged Trump to accept the debate invitation, citing that the format would be identical to the CNN debate in June, where Trump claimed victory. “He should have no problem agreeing,” Dillon said, referencing Trump’s past praise for CNN’s moderators and rules.
While Trump’s campaign has not yet responded, the stakes are high as both candidates remain close in the polls leading up to the November 5 election.
Harris and Trump first faced off earlier this month in Philadelphia, with many political analysts concluding that Harris won the debate. This next debate could be a crucial moment for both candidates as they race toward Election Day.
As both campaigns prepare for another potential showdown, further updates and debate details are expected soon.
