Kamala Harris ‘A Dangerous Force’ For Middle East Slams Iran | Watch Here

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has firmly condemned Iran as a “dangerous” and “destabilizing” force in the Middle East, emphasizing Washington’s unwavering commitment to Israel’s security. Her remarks come in the wake of Iran’s recent ballistic missile attacks on Israel, which were retaliatory strikes amid heightened military tensions in the region.

Context of the Remarks

Harris’s statements were made on Tuesday as she campaigns for the upcoming U.S. presidential election against former President Donald Trump, set for November 5. The timing of her comments coincided with Iran’s missile barrage targeting Israel, a response to Israel’s ongoing military operations in Lebanon. Despite the missile strikes, no injuries were reported in Israel, and U.S. officials characterized the attack as ineffective.

Key Statements from Harris

“I’m clear-eyed that Iran is a destabilizing, dangerous force in the Middle East,” Kamala Harris asserted during her address. She reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring Israel’s right to defend itself against threats from Iran and Iran-backed militant groups.

In addition, Harris expressed her full support for President Joe Biden’s directive allowing the U.S. military to intercept Iranian missiles aimed at Israel. “Initial indications are that Israel, with our assistance, was able to defeat this attack,” she noted.

Commitment to Allies

Harris stressed that the United States will collaborate with its allies to counter Iran’s “aggressive behavior,” highlighting a commitment to regional stability.

Ongoing Military Operations

The backdrop of Harris’s comments involves an intensifying military campaign by Israel in Lebanon, where hundreds have been killed and more than a million displaced due to Israeli operations targeting the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia. This military action follows a series of escalations, including a violent attack on Israel by Palestinian Hamas militants on October 7, leading to a significant Israeli military response in Gaza.

The conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths in Gaza according to Palestinian health authorities, leading to allegations of genocide against Israel, which the country has denied.

As tensions remain high, Harris’s statements underscore the Biden administration’s stance on the escalating conflict and the need for a unified response to threats from Iran.
