Joe Biden Reveals Future Plans And Legacy After White House Exit

As his presidential term approaches its end in January 2025, US President Joe Biden has opened up about his plans for the future. During an interview on ABC’s The View, Biden, 81, emphasized that retirement is not in the cards for him. He stated his intention to remain active in both global and domestic policy matters through the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement and the Biden Institute at the University of Delaware.

With over 50 years in politics, Biden declared, “I’m not going away,” and assured his continued involvement in initiatives that were started during his administration.

Reflecting on His Legacy

When asked about how he wants to be remembered, Biden took a humble approach, saying, “I’m less concerned about what my legacy is.” He joked that even though he will leave the White House, “you’re stuck with me, I’m not going away.” Biden reiterated his desire to continue focusing on foreign and domestic policy, ensuring that the work his administration began carries on after his departure.

Biden on Withdrawing from the Race

Biden also shared insights into his decision to withdraw from the upcoming White House race. He mentioned being “at peace” with the decision, noting that he views himself as a “transition president” who helped pave the way for a new generation of leadership. He expressed confidence in the accomplishments of his administration, saying, “We got things done that people thought we couldn’t.”

Biden further added that he made the decision to let Vice President Kamala Harris take the lead in the next race, stating, “It was better to step back and let the next generation take over.”

Honored to Serve as President

Reflecting on his time in office, Biden said that it was the “greatest honor” of his life to serve as President, adding, “I loved it, but I love my country more.”
