Israel’s Foreign Minister met with Romanian Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu during her visit to Israel on Thursday. Katz expressed his gratitude to Odobescu for Romania’s consistent support following the October 7 Hamas terror attack and Israel’s efforts to secure the release of hostages.
He emphasized that Israel’s conflict is a battle not just for itself, but for the entire Western world against the “Iranian axis of evil” and its affiliates. Katz also announced plans to visit Romania at the end of the month to further strengthen the already solid ties between the two nations.
Odobescu described their conversation as productive, noting that they discussed the Israel-Romania partnership and the current situation in the Middle East. They agreed to enhance political engagements and deepen cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
During her visit, Odobescu also met with the families of Romanian-Israeli hostages currently held in Gaza. She expressed her deep sympathy and reaffirmed Romania’s strong call for the immediate release of all hostages, pledging ongoing efforts to ensure their safe return.
