Brunei’s Prince Mateen Marries Commoner Anisha In Lavish Royal Wedding

Prince Abdul Mateen, the fourth son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, has long been regarded as one of the most attractive royals globally. His charm and royal status, combined with his massive Instagram following of 3.2 million, have earned him the nickname “Asia’s Prince Harry.”

However, in January of this year, the 33-year-old prince, once considered one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors, tied the knot with commoner Anisha Isa Kalebic. Their wedding, held at the majestic Istana Nurul Iman palace, the official residence of the Sultan of Brunei, was a dazzling event attended by celebrities, heads of state, and royals from across the globe.

A Grand Royal Affair

The wedding was a spectacle of opulence and tradition. Prince Mateen, a trained helicopter pilot and polo player, looked every bit the part of a royal groom in his ceremonial uniform. His bride, Anisha, stunned in a long ivory wedding gown, paired with a diamond tiara that featured 838 diamonds in various cuts, weighing over 132 carats. The tiara, crafted by Singaporean luxury jeweler Flower Diamond, took over eight months to create.

Their Love Story

Prince Mateen is the 10th child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah with his second wife. Before their marriage, Prince Mateen and Anisha had been in a relationship for a few years, although their courtship remained largely private. The couple was seen together at the wedding ceremonies of Prince Mateen’s sisters, Princess Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah in 2023 and Princess Fadzilah in 2022.

Anisha’s brother, Danial Deen Isa-Kalebic, is a close friend of Prince Mateen. In a 2013 Daily Mail article, Danial humorously mentioned their childhood bond with a nostalgic caption on Prince Mateen’s birthday.

The marriage of Prince Abdul Mateen and Anisha Isa Kalebic marks a significant and heartwarming chapter in Brunei’s royal history, blending royal tradition with modern love.
