Recently, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un supervised the testing of suicide attack drones. He stressed the need for quick and full-scale “mass production” of these drones, which are designed to target both land and sea locations with precision. According to reports, the drones come in various ranges to suit different military missions.

Drones Tested for Precision Strikes

During the tests, which occurred the day before the report, Kim provided on-site guidance. The drones were developed by an institute within the Unmanned Aerial Technology Complex and other related companies. These drones followed preset tactical routes and successfully hit targets with high accuracy after completing their flights.

Kim Emphasizes Drones’ Importance in Modern Warfare

Kim Jong-un expressed satisfaction with the performance of the drones and highlighted their growing role in modern warfare. “Drones have emerged as an essential requirement in military aspects nowadays,” he said. Furthermore, he noted that global competition to use drones as a primary military tool is accelerating. He pointed out that drones offer expanding military applications, low production costs, and simple production processes.

North Korea’s Capability to Produce Drones

In addition, Kim emphasized that North Korea has the full ability to produce a wide range of drones. He also stated that the country would explore integrating “new and promising tactical methods” to meet the demands of modern warfare. “The Workers’ Party of Korea has recently attached importance to the line of perfectly combining unmanned military hardware systems with operational plans,” he added.

Push for Full-Scale Mass Production

Kim further underscored the importance of implementing a serial production system quickly. He insisted that North Korea must move toward “full-scale mass production” as soon as possible. Notably, this test follows North Korea’s first performance test of suicide attack drones in August, which Kim also oversaw on-site.
