Former cricketer Shahid Afridi has expressed confidence in Pakistan’s bowling prowess ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup, highlighting it as the team’s strongest asset. With the tournament set to commence on June 1, Pakistan enters as a formidable contender, having reached the final in the previous edition.

Afridi emphasized the depth and skill within Pakistan’s bowling unit, particularly praising the talent of their fast bowlers. He noted that even the reserve players, like Abbas Afridi, possess exceptional skills, including effective slower balls. Afridi expressed optimism that Pakistan’s bowlers would deliver impressive performances against top-quality opposition in the World Cup.

Pakistan’s pace bowling contingent boasts Shaheen Shah Afridi, Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf. However, concerns have been raised by former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja regarding the consistency and adaptability of the team’s fast bowlers.

During Pakistan’s ongoing series against England, Shaheen Shah Afridi stood out with his three-wicket haul in the second T20I at Edgbaston. However, Ramiz criticized Shaheen’s performance, particularly highlighting his struggles when the ball isn’t swinging and urging him to develop variations to maintain pressure on the opposition.

Ramiz also raised concerns about the performances of other pacers like Mohammad Amir and Naseem Shah, who faced challenges during Pakistan’s tour of Ireland. Hasan Ali’s inclusion in the squad didn’t yield the desired results either, with his expensive spell in the third T20I against Ireland further adding to Pakistan’s bowling woes.

Acknowledging the need for a cohesive and effective bowling strategy, Ramiz urged for a swift announcement of the World Cup squad to provide clarity and stability to the team. As Pakistan prepares for the third T20I against England in Cardiff, addressing these bowling concerns will be crucial for their success in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
