The Supreme Court has taken a tough stand against hate speech while hearing a petition by Hindus following stone pelting and firing at a procession (Brij Mandal Shobha Yatra) in Nuh, Haryana on July 31, but clearly stated that no ban on rallies and gatherings of Hindus can be applied.
The top court said that such things cannot be accepted. It further directed the Haryana DGP to constitute a committee of two-three officers to investigate the entire incident. The committee will also investigate which officer did not fulfil his responsibility in stopping the hate speech. It is necessary to make a mechanism so that such incidents do not happen in future. The Supreme Court said that we have to find a permanent solution to this problem. The Supreme Court has sought proposals from both the petitioner and the government to prevent such incidents. The Supreme Court has fixed the next hearing of the case on 18 August.
In fact, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court against the call for alleged boycott and segregation of Muslims in Haryana following the attacks and violence on the Brij Mandal Shobhayatra in Nuh.
In this video, some people of a community in Hansi market were seen warning shopkeepers that if they have hired any outsider Muslim, then remove them within two days or else they too will be boycotted.
The petition filed in the Supreme Court has requested to ban the hate speech of such people, who spread hatred in the society.
The video mentioned in the petition filed in the Supreme Court is of August 2, two days after the riots in Nuh on July 31. On that day, some Hindu organisations in Hansi took out a yatra on which some miscreants pelted stone. After this incident, local Hindu groups warned shopkeepers not to employ any outsider Muslim.
The video related to this threat went viral on social media. After this, on the orders of the Hisar SP, a case was registered against 16 people.
Later, the police had registered a case of inciting religious riots against Krishna Gurjar, Parvinder Lohan, Bhupendra Rathod, Vinod and 12 other unknown people. However, after the case was registered and the video went viral, people of Hindu organisations reached Hansi SDM office and expressed regret.
