Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, expressed her joy at the mass wedding of over 50 underprivileged couples from Palghar, a town approximately 100 km from Mumbai. This event marked the commencement of the ‘Shubh lagna’ ceremonies for her son Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. The couple is set to wed at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on July 12.

Reflecting on the mass wedding, Nita Ambani shared, “Witnessing these newlywed couples brings me immense happiness. As a mother, the joy of seeing one’s children getting married is unparalleled. Today, I share that same joy. I extend my blessings to all these couples.” She further noted, “The ‘Shubh lagna’ ceremonies for Anant and Radhika begin today with this mass wedding event. I am fortunate to be part of this auspicious occasion and wish the couples a life filled with happiness.”

The Ambani family, including son Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, his wife Shloka Ambani, daughter Isha Ambani, who heads Reliance Retail, and her husband Anand Piramal, attended the event and conveyed their heartfelt wishes to the couples. The ceremony, held at Reliance Corporate Park, saw around 800 attendees representing the families of the newlyweds.

This event is just the beginning, as the Ambani family has pledged to support many more such weddings across the country in future wedding seasons. As a token of goodwill, each couple received gold ornaments, including Mangalsutra, wedding rings, and nose rings, along with silver items like toe rings and anklets. Additionally, each bride was given a cheque of Rs 1.01 lakh as ‘streedhan’. The couples also received essential household items, including groceries, utensils, appliances such as gas stoves, mixers, and fans, as well as mattresses and pillows to support them in their new life together.

The Ambanis have a history of philanthropic activities during family weddings, including organizing food services for nearby communities and collaborating with NGOs. In February, during Anant and Radhika’s pre-wedding festivities, the family held an Anna Seva event in Jogwad village near Reliance Township in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani, and other family members, along with Radhika Merchant, served traditional Gujarati meals to around 51,000 villagers.

This grand gesture of celebrating love and unity exemplifies the Ambani family’s commitment to social welfare and community support, making the beginning of Anant and Radhika’s wedding ceremonies a truly memorable and benevolent occasion.
