There will be night curfew not just in four metros, but in 20 town and cities of Gujarat. Apart from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot, there will be night curfew in 16 other towns and cities of the state. Night curfew was increased on Tuesday from 8 pm to 6 am. Curfew will also be imposed in Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Junagadh from 8 pm.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced that a Central team will visit Gujarat. Home Minister Amit Shah had a conversation with P.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister. The Chief Minister said that a lockdown has not yet taken place, but it is important to make some important decisions.

After a high-level meeting following the High Court’s directions, he said that about 60 per cent of the total cases are coming from four metros. Cases are also slowly increasing in other districts. “For the last one year, we have been fighting against Covid-19 with the cooperation of the people. Given the Covid situation in the entire country today, it seems that cases will keep growing. But we need not fear,” he said.

With Gujarat staring at the possibility of another lockdown in the wake of an alarming rise in Covid-19 cases, a High Court bench of Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Bhargava Karia directed the government to take concrete steps to break the chain of transmission of the coronavirus. The High Court directed the government to impose a 3-4 day curfew across the state and take necessary decision on weekend curfews.

Gujarat’s Covid-19 recovery rate has also come down to 93.81 per cent.
