In a bid to press their demands, the employees appointed under National Health Mission (NHM) have announced to extend their strike for four more days. Meanwhile the agitating employees have started the chain hunger strike as their agitation entered the 13th day.

The employees, who have been protesting since the last week of July, have been demanding to freeze NMH bylaws affecting their livelihood. ‘We have dedicated our lives to the service of the people and to with hold our salaries repeatedly while not standing up to the promise of Dearness Allowance for over a year is not what we stand’ says Sunil Swami, one of the protestors.

The protestors have later scheduled a meeting with the NHM MD later today at the National Health Mission office, Sector 2 Panchkula, which would determine the course of their strike’s fate. ‘Many promises were made to us by the then Manohar Lal government but nothing has been done till now. If our demands are not fulfilled, we shall withdraw our votes from the current government and continue striking but with extra force’ says Sunil.
