In a twist to the murder of Lipsy Mittal, her husband and Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) leader Anokh Mittal and his 24-year-old friend woman friend Pratiksha have been arrested by Ludhiana police on Monday for orchestrating the murder.
The Police have also arrested four contract killers hired by the duo—Amritpal Singh alias Balli (26), Gurdeep Singh alias Manni (25), Sonu Singh (24) — all residents of Nandpur, and Sagardeep Singh alias Teji (30) from Dhandari Kalan. Another key accused, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, remains absconding.
The crime took place on Saturday night when Lipsy and Anokh were returning home after attending a party at a resort in Pohir village, along the Ludhiana-Malerkotla highway. As they stopped at a deserted stretch on the Dehlon bypass, the hired assailants, armed with sharp weapons, attacked Lipsy and killed her.
Initially, Anokh told police that unidentified miscreants had attacked the couple, looted their car, mobile, and jewellery before fleeing. However, investigations revealed that he was the mastermind behind the murder.
Police officials stated that Anokh conspired with Pratiksha, with whom he was allegedly having an extramarital affair. The duo hired five contract killers for Rs 2.50 lakh, paying Rs 50,000 in advance, with the rest to be paid after the murder.
