As part of efforts in innovating defense solutions for the indigenous community, Flying Wedge Defence & Aerospace (FWDA), based out of Bengaluru, has launched the FWD Supreme, a full-sized static prototype of India’s first AI-powered fighter aircraft. The launch took place in New Delhi in the presence of some of the country’s top military and procurement officials.

With capabilities to fight, spy, and strike collaboratively, the 1-tonne class FWD Supreme Heavy is designed with a flying wing structure with a 10 by 10 meters size and an internal weapon bay. Moving at a speed of 1,500 km and traveling at high subsonic speed (Mach 0.8-0.85) and with more than two hours of flight endurance and SATCOM capability, this drone reflects the “Mobbing Doctrine” of FWDA – a strategy involving the coordination of large swarms of AI controlled fighter jets.

Addressing the conference, DG Acquisition Shri A. Anbarasu noted that the project is completely in line with India’s strategy of self-reliance through the Aatmanirbhar Bharat project and includes indigenously designed and manufactured systems and total data sovereignty.

Moving forward, the mini-FWD Supreme Lite model has already undergone taxiing trials while preparing for the future flights. Thanks to the newly launched Operation Triple Seven project, FWDA is set to create global partnerships in the aerospace industry on the basis of the India-driven ecosystem.
