SABALENKA WAVING TO CROWD STORY: World number one Aryna Sabalenka overcame fifth seed Jessica Pegula in three sets, 6-4 2-6 6-3, at the WTA Finals on Tuesday (November 4). Sabalenka went the full distance as her American opponent made her break points count to level the game after two sets. It's a result that sends the 27-year-old to the top of her group and on the verge of the semi-finals in Riyadh, after beating Jasmine Paolini in her first game of the tournament. Sabalenka will face Coco Gauff in her final group match later in the week, and will have her eye on Saturday's showpiece final, having finished runner-up in 2022. Earlier on Tuesday it was announced that the Belarusian will be facing Nick Kyrgios in a 'Battle of the Sexes' Exhibition in December. Sabalenka will look to emulate Billie Jean King's historic 1973 victory over Bobby Riggs, when she faces the Australian in Dubai.
