In a landmark move for women's sports, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that tickets for the upcoming Women’s World Cup 2025 will start at an unprecedented Rs. 100 ($1.14). With this move, which is a part of a new collaboration with Google, the tournament hopes to break attendance records and become the most accessible international cricket event ever.
The 13th edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2, 2025. After a 12-year hiatus, the competition is returning to India, and there will undoubtedly be a lively and cricket-loving environment.
The affordability of this World Cup is its defining feature.
This pricing strategy represents a radical shift from previous tournaments and underscores the ICC's commitment to growing the women's game.
The ICC is pulling out all the stops to ensure this event is a spectacle.
Opening Ceremony: Bollywood playback legend Shreya Ghoshal will be the star performer at the opening ceremony in Guwahati on September 30. She will debut the official tournament anthem, “Bring it Home,” just before the opening match between co-hosts India and Sri Lanka.
Record Prize Pool: The total prize money for the tournament has been set at a whopping $13.88 million. This is a significant financial boost for women's cricket and the competing players, as the purse is nearly four times that of the 2022 edition.
