With the tournament starting on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, the draw marks a key moment that will define the group-stage path for 42 qualified nations, with six more spots to be decided by playoffs in March. This year’s draw introduces a new twist, though, with FIFA’s tennis-style seeding system ensuring the top four-ranked teams, Spain, Argentina, France, and England, are kept on separate knockout pathways through to the semifinals.

The live draw of the 2026 World Cup will be broadcast in the U.S. on FOX and Fubo. ESPN will also stream the event with expert analysis and extended coverage.

Starting with the latest FIFA World Rankings published on Nov. 19, FIFA will divide the 48 teams into four pots comprising 12 teams each. Each of the 12 groups in the World Cup will have one team from each pot to ensure balance and diversification across the groups.
