Microsoft has officially launched Xbox Cloud Gaming in India, marking a new era for gamers across the country. The launch lets users stream and play Xbox games without owning a console, expanding access to hundreds of titles through the Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate plans. The move aligns India with over two dozen global markets already enjoying Xbox’s cloud-based experience.
Microsoft officially rolled out Xbox Cloud Gaming in India on November 11, 2025. The launch comes after weeks of leaks and testing phases, confirming the tech giant’s commitment to expanding its gaming ecosystem in one of the fastest-growing digital markets.
Announcing the rollout, Xbox India said, “We’re excited to announce Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available in India, enabling players to stream and play hundreds of titles on the devices they already own, whether it's on an Xbox console, PC, handheld, mobile phone, select LG and Samsung Smart TVs, or compatible Amazon Fire TV Sticks or Fire TV Cube. This launch marks India as Xbox’s 29th cloud gaming market—a major step in our mission to bring the joy and community of gaming to everyone on the planet.”
This launch follows weeks of leaks and speculation about Xbox’s cloud expansion into India. With this, players can now access console-quality gaming experiences directly through the cloud.
In India, Xbox Game Pass plans come in multiple tiers:
Xbox Cloud Gaming allows players to stream Xbox titles directly on devices they already own — including smartphones, PCs, tablets, and smart TVs. There’s no need for a console or game downloads.
All players need is:
Some games also support touch controls or keyboard-and-mouse input, offering flexible options for different play styles.
Hundreds of games available on Xbox Game Pass already support cloud play, allowing instant access without lengthy installations. Subscribers can play blockbuster titles instantly on any device.
Additionally, Microsoft has extended cloud streaming support to some games players already own — a major advantage for those with large digital libraries.
The platform also supports Windows-based handheld devices, such as the ROG Ally and ROG Ally X, which launched in India in October. This integration strengthens Xbox’s expanding handheld gaming ecosystem.
The arrival of Xbox Cloud Gaming is a significant step in India’s digital gaming evolution. With over 500 million smartphone users and rapidly improving internet speeds, India is poised to become one of the largest cloud gaming markets in Asia.
Experts say that Xbox’s entry could reshape how Indian gamers play, removing hardware barriers and enabling console-quality experiences on affordable devices.
As cloud infrastructure grows, more global gaming companies are expected to follow Microsoft’s lead — making India a key player in the future of cloud-based entertainment.
