Pankaj Kumar Mishra is one of the prominent leaders of Janata Dal (United) and a well-known name in Bihar’s political circle. It is his calm leadership and strong local connect that makes him represent the Runnisaidpur Assembly constituency in Sitamarhi district.
Pankaj Mishra is an Indian politician and social worker. He has established his reputation through public engagement and developmental work. He was elected as a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2020. He represents JD(U).
Born on May 25, 1974, Mishra is 51 years old. Though young in politics, he is already a two-time candidate from Runnisaidpur.
Mishra represents the Janata Dal (United) party which is helmed by Nitish Kumar. He is known as one of the trusted Bhumihar leaders of the party in the Sitamarhi region.
He did his Bachelor's in Arts from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Muzaffarpur in 1997. His academic grounding has shaped his thoughtful approach to governance.
According to his affidavit in 2025, Mishra declared assets of Rs. 7.63 crores and liabilities amounting to Rs. 51 lakh. The income has grown considerably during the last few years, which represents legitimate accruals from agriculture and public service.
Although not very active on social media platforms, Mishra engages in political communication and updates on constituency development on Twitter and Facebook.
It also elaborates on transparency in financial disclosures and educational records. Uploaded prior to the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections.
Mishra has movable and immovable assets including agricultural land and a family residence in Runnisaidpur.
His official communication office is in Patna and acts as an interface for JD(U) activities and coordination in the constituency.
He represents Runnisaidpur in the Sitamarhi district which has a diverse electorate with a strong rural base.
In JD(U), Mishra is considered a stabilizing influence among Bhumihar leaders and remains close to the senior state leadership.
In 2022, Mishra had skipped a cabinet swearing in ceremony along with four other MLAs, reportedly over caste-based representation within the party.
There is no major criminal case against him listed in his affidavit, which keeps his clean image intact in the often turbulent political arena of Bihar.
Declared income has risen steadily from Rs. 17 lakh in 2015–16 to Rs. 27 lakh in 2019–20 indicating consistently transparent financial dealings.
