CM Orders War-Footing Completion of Pending Works in Palamuru Region, Assures Immediate Funds for Compensation and Rehabilitation.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed irrigation officials to accord the highest priority to land acquisition for all ongoing and pending irrigation projects across the state, stressing that the process must be completed on a war footing to ensure timely execution of key infrastructure works.
The Chief Minister issued the instructions during his two-day tour of the drought-prone Palamuru region, where he conducted aerial surveys and on-ground inspections of major irrigation projects. Accompanied by Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, he reviewed the progress of the Makthal–Kodangal–Narayanpet Lift Irrigation Scheme and inspected the Koilsagar and Priyadarshini Jurala projects.
Addressing a review meeting in Nagarkurnool district, Revanth Reddy emphasized that project implementation cannot move forward without resolving land acquisition and Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) issues. He directed district Collectors to personally monitor acquisition activities and coordinate with local public representatives to remove bottlenecks.
The Chief Minister assured officials that the government would release funds immediately for compensation and R&R packages. He instructed that Part-A components, including land acquisition and rehabilitation, be completed before commencing Part-B civil works to ensure efficient utilization of resources.
Providing an update on the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS), Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Narlapur Reservoir has been completed, while Yedula Reservoir has reached 95 percent completion. Embankment works at the Vattem and Karivena reservoirs are progressing steadily.
The minister advised engineers to focus available resources on critical trunk infrastructure capable of delivering maximum benefits. He also directed officials to prepare realistic execution plans with clear timelines and financial requirements, pursue legal remedies to vacate court stays, and submit advance monthly fund projections for better planning.
During the tour, officials briefed the Chief Minister on several major proposals, including increasing the storage capacity of the Gudemdoddi Reservoir from 1.1 TMC to 15 TMC at an estimated cost of ₹8,500 crore and enhancing the capacity of the Ghattu Lift Irrigation Scheme to 3 TMC.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the Nettempadu Project and the under-construction Mallammakunta Reservoir under the Tummilla Project before concluding his tour with a public meeting in Jadcherla.
