With the Parliament Monsoon session commencing on July 20, the Congress Parliament Party strategy group will be meeting on Thursday to finalise the party’s strategy at the residence of Sonia Gandhi.
According to party leaders, the meeting of the CPP strategy group will be meeting at 10 Janpath, the residence of Sonia Gandhi on Thursday to decide the strategy for the upcoming Monsoon Session commencing on July 20.
The meeting is scheduled for 11 am, will focus on the issues the Congress plans to raise during the Monsoon Session and the issues the party wants to raise during the session.
The meeting comes ahead of the all-party meeting on July 19, a day before the commencement of the Monsoon Session, to discuss the legislative agenda and seek cooperation from various political parties.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament is expected to be stormy, with the Opposition likely to raise several political and public interest issues, while the government is set to push forward its legislative agenda.
The session is expected to witness fierce debates, with some opposition parties having seen rifts and “splits” in recent weeks.
Sources said that the Congress is set to raise several issues relating to the public interest including paper leak, inflation, economic issues, and the government plan to bring several bills including several other issues.
The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) of Parliament which has been examining the proposed 130th Constitution Amendment Bill is expected to adopt its report on July 17 before submitting it to Parliament, will also witness the heated debate.
The proposed legislation has triggered political debate over its provision that seeks the automatic removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and Union or State ministers from office if they remain in judicial custody for 30 consecutive days in cases involving serious offences.
