Srinagar, October 24: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said he discussed the proposed cabinet expansion with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha during a meeting at Lok Bhawan and had requested time for the exercise.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Omar confirmed that cabinet expansion was discussed, adding that he had requested the Lieutenant Governor to provide time for the process.

Asked about who would be inducted into the Council of Ministers, the Chief Minister said he had been receiving numerous calls and messages from people sharing their profiles and highlighting their credentials in lengthy messages.

“I am receiving a number of messages and calls from my people. They are sending their details and profiles in long, long messages. I would like to tell them that I know everything, so they should not do this,” Omar said.

He added that the process had already been finalised after discussions with Dr Farooq Abdullah and there was no need for people to send such messages at this stage.

“We have already finalised everything, so there is no need to do it now,” the Chief Minister said.

His remarks come amid growing speculation over the induction of new faces into the Omar Abdullah-led government.
