Jammu, Sept 21: At a time when security forces are intensifying anti-terror operations across the Jammu region, the Indian Army’s strategically important White Knight Corps (16 Corps) is set to get a new commander. Lieutenant General Mohit Seth will take over as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Nagrota-based White Knight Corps on October 1, succeeding Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra.
The change of command will take place during a formal baton-handing ceremony, marking the transition of leadership in one of the Army’s most crucial operational formations responsible for security along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border in the Jammu sector.
Currently serving as the Commandant of the Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT) in Bhutan, Lt Gen Mohit Seth brings with him extensive operational experience, particularly in counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir. He has previously commanded the Army’s Kilo Force, one of the key formations involved in anti-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley.
Commissioned into the 3 Madras Regiment in 1991, Lt Gen Seth has more than three decades of military experience. A graduate of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the National Defence College, he has held several important command and staff appointments in Jammu and Kashmir, the North East and Army Headquarters. He has also served as the Indian Army Liaison Officer at the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom.
The White Knight Corps plays a pivotal role in maintaining security in the Jammu region. Apart from guarding the LoC and the International Border, it oversees counter-terror operations in districts including Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur and Reasi.
The leadership change comes at a critical juncture as security forces continue sustained operations against terrorists in the forested and mountainous areas of the Jammu division. In recent weeks, multiple anti-terror operations have been launched in Udhampur, Kathua, Doda and Kishtwar districts.
Recently, two Pakistani terrorists affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed were killed in an encounter in Udhampur district. Security forces have since continued search operations in the region to track down other terrorists believed to be hiding in the area.
Lt Gen P.K. Mishra, who has been leading the White Knight Corps since April 2025, will move on to a new assignment after completing his tenure. During his command, the Corps oversaw several major counter-terror operations and strengthened the security grid across the Jammu region.
It is believe that incoming commander’s extensive experience in counter-insurgency and operational leadership will further bolster the Army’s efforts to tackle terrorism and maintain security in the strategically sensitive Jammu region.
