Poonch, Oct 12: Four terrorists, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, were killed in a landmine blast while attempting to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Monday, sources said.

According to sources, the group was attempting to cross into this side through the Nangi Takri area of the Krishna Ghati sector late Monday afternoon when they entered a minefield and triggered an explosion.

The powerful blast killed all four on the spot, sources said.

The deceased have been identified as  Muhammad Faizan and his associates. Muhammad Faizan was identified as a top LeT commander.

All four were residents of Mandla, Madarpur, Tehsil Hajira, in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), sources said.

The forward areas along the LoC are heavily mined as part of the anti-infiltration grid maintained to prevent terrorists from crossing into Indian territory. The minefields form a key component of the security arrangements along the border.

Further details about the incident are awaited.
