It has been officially announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that the date sheet for the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams for 2026 will be held beginning on February 17, 2026. The announcement brings clarity for lakhs of students and schools preparing in different parts of the country for the upcoming academic session.
In a move for better academic preparedness, CBSE released a tentative date sheet as early as September 24, 2025 - 146 days ahead of exams. This proactive step allowed schools, teachers and students to plan ahead and structure their study schedules more effectively. After finalising the List of Candidates (LOC) and receiving complete data on subject combinations, CBSE issued the final schedule 110 days in advance of the beginning of the examinations.
CBSE said that while drafting the date sheet, it has ensured that students get sufficient gaps between important subjects. The Board said that it has also tried to avoid dates of major entrance examinations to be held for Class 12 students in order to reduce the pressure.

To manage teacher availability during evaluation, the CBSE came up with a schedule that would prevent educators offering multiple subjects from going away from the schools simultaneously. The Board also reviewed more than 40,000 subject combinations to ensure no student faced a timetable clash.
All exams will be held from 10:30 a.m. every day in order to avoid a clash with the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), CBSE has liaised with NTA. NTA will henceforth be asking for the Class 11 registration number when students apply for JEE (Main) to avoid conflict between the two exam dates.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the Examinations tab.
Step 3: From the dropdown menu, choose Date Sheet.
Step 4: Find and click on the link titled CBSE Date Sheet X–XII Final 2026.
Step 5: The date sheet will open in PDF format you can view, download or save it for future reference.

The Board recommends that all schools immediately distribute the schedule and counsel students regarding key dates of exams, subject combinations and timelines for preparation.
