In a shocking incident, Lipsi Mittal, wife of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and businessman Anokh Mittal, was brutally murdered by armed robbers late Saturday night. The attack took place while the couple was returning home from a dinner in Dehlo.
According to police, five armed assailants intercepted the Mittals’ vehicle near village Rurka, close to the Sidhwan Canal bridge. The attackers, carrying sharp-edged weapons, launched a violent assault on the couple. While Anokh Mittal attempted to resist, he was seriously injured and is currently receiving treatment at DMC Hospital.
Lipsi Mittal did not survive the attack and was pronounced dead at the scene. The robbers fled the spot with the couple’s car and other belongings.
Police have launched an investigation and assured strict action against those responsible. “We are probing the case from all angles,” said a senior police official. Anokh Mittal, a well-known businessman, joined AAP about four months ago after being inducted by MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi.
His association with the party had brought the Mittals into focus in both political and business circles.
