Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday announced that the government will rebuild two demolished mosques, a temple, and a church in the new state Secretariat complex at the government expenditure.

He declared that after the end of the ensuing assembly session, foundation stones will be laid for all the places of worship on the same day and construction work will be launched and completed on a fastnote.

The CM held a meeting with the elder members of the Muslim community at Pragathi Bhavan on the construction of a new mosque at the Secretariat and other issues.

KCR in a statement said, “The government would construct two mosques, each in 750 square feet (total 1500 Sq Feet) including one Imam Quarters. The new mosques would be constructed at the same location where they were, in the new Secretariat. The New mosques after the construction will be handed over to the State Wakf Board.”

He further informed that the temple will also be constructed in 1500 square feet and after the construction will be handed over to the Endowments department.

“Since there was a demand from the Christian community that they should also have a church in the new Secretariat, the government will construct the church. Telangana State treats all religions equally. It will practice religious tolerance. It is a symbol of Ganga Jamuna Tehzeeb. Hence, new places of worship are constructed in the new secretariat for all the religions. After the Legislative sessions, foundation stone for these places of worship will be laid on the same day,” KCR said further.

Meanwhile, the Assembly session of Telangana starts from 07 September, i.e. Monday and it’s expected to be a stormy one.

Speaker Pocharam said, “Various precautionary measures have been taken by the State government, the Covid-19 positive cases and the death rate are very less in the state. However, all the staff should undergo Covid-19 tests and should bring the report. Those who have tested positive for Covid-19 will not be allowed to attend the session.”

The opposition Congress party wanted to raise the issue of Covid- 19 in the state and it said that the state government has miserably failed in containing the coronavirus. The CM said that the government is ready to discuss any issue.
