Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, met actor Ranveer Singh on Wednesday before the state’s hosting of the 2023 men’s hockey World Cup. The Bollywood star travelled to Cuttack to take part in the Barabati Stadium’s pre-event festivities. Pritam, a music director, and Disha Patani, an actor, will also take part in the festivities on Wednesday.

Sharing pictures, Patnaik tweeted, “It is a pleasure meeting popular actor @RanveerOfficial ahead of #HockeyWorldCup2023 Celebrations at Barabati Stadium, #Cuttack.”

“I am sure his presence will add a lot of charm to the celebration. Let’s all join to celebrate the spirit of hockey,” he wrote. Ranveer Singh gifted the CM a jersey with his name on it.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is hosting the men’s hockey World Cup, which will take place in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The chief minister had previously stated that each member would receive Rs. 1 crore if India won the World Cup.

The World Cup Village at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium Complex in Rourkela was formally opened by CM Patnaik last week. The World Cup Village, which has 225 rooms and all the amenities befitting the status of the hockey World Cup, was constructed in a record-breaking nine months.

Additionally, on Tuesday, a National Hockey Conclave was held in Konark, bringing together hockey enthusiasts from all over India. Through a video message, chief minister Naveen Patnaik welcomed the delegates.

“India is hosting the hockey men’s World Cup for the second consecutive time and like us in Odisha, I am sure, each one of you feels immensely proud to be a part of this prestigious tournament. The emotional connection that each one has for Hockey and the World Cup reflects in your participation in this National Hockey Conclave,” he said.
