New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials and reviewed the preparedness for the NEET-UG re-examination set to be held on Sunday.

During the meeting, Pradhan emphasised on the need to ensure integrity, transparency and efficiency in the conduct of the examination. He directed all concerned authorities to remain vigilant and ensure comprehensive preparedness for the re-test.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Education, state governments, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and higher education institutions briefed the minister about the preparedness.

Stressing on the importance of coordination, he said officers designated by the Ministry of Education would be deployed across states to oversee re-examination related activities and report to the command centre headed by the DG of NTA.

The education minister directed state government nodal officers to ensure candidates are provided with necessary facilities and write their examination in a stress-free environment.

Meanwhile, before the meet, the NTA on Thursday released a detailed statement assuring students of “extensive arrangements” and a warning that “any attempt at malpractice will be dealt with firmly”.

Pointing to the “difficult” decision made on the May 3 examination, the agency said, “we have carried those lessons forward and strengthened the system further this time.”

The statement from the testing agency and the high-level review meet came after at least 11 NEET aspirants have committed suicide so far, reportedly due to the stress over leak forced re-test.
