The 42nd India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2023, which is currently taking place at the Pragati Maidan, will commemorate Assam Day on Wednesday here. Bimal Borah, the minister of industries, commerce, public enterprises, and cultural affairs for Assam, will be the main guest at the event. A number of events are scheduled to take place at one of the amphitheaters to highlight the diversity and rich cultural legacy of Assam. Assam Day celebrations feature a variety of performances, including Satriya, Jhumur, Hajong, and Bihu dances, as well as music by well-known musicians Ridip Rankit and Bhrigu Kashyap.
An Assam Pavilion was also being set up at the fair venue, showcasing the state’s rich culture and its offerings. It was inaugurated by the Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Government of Assam Ravi Kota on November 14.
Various initiatives of the government of Assam including One District One Product, GI products — Assam Lemon, Gamusa, Muga silk etc — along with traditional dresses of Assam, Ease of Doing Business, Assam Start-Up, are being promoted. The Assam Pavilion houses five numbers of government departments or PSUs, 32 MSME units, and two start-ups.
The India International Trade Fair’s theme for this year is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – United by Trade.” On November 27, the two-week-long fair will come to an end.
