Kick starting his two-day visit to poll-bound Gujarat, BJP national president JP Nadda on Tuesday flagged off the e-bikes for the Namo Kisan Panchayat programme in Gandhinagar.
On the occasion, Nadda listed out the welfare schemes rolled out by the Central government for farmers and hailed PM Modi for launching the schemes. “All the leaders used the names of farmers strategically but did nothing for them. If there is anybody who has done things on the ground for the farmers in independent India, it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
The BJP chief listed down the schemes for the farmers and said that the Modi government worked to strengthen the poor during the pandemic through the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
“When tragedy struck a century ago, more people died of starvation than from disease. The corona pandemic was the biggest tragedy of the century. Prime Minister Modi worked to strengthen the poor people by giving 5 kg of wheat, 5 kg of rice and pulses to 80 crore people by running the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. The scheme is ongoing even today,” he said.
“Nobody thought about the farmers. But PM Modi did the work of sending Rs 6,000 annually to the accounts of more than 11 crore farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The budget for the farmers has been increased by six times,” Nadda added.
Exuding confidence in the work done by the BJP government in the state and at the Centre for the farmers, the BJP chief said that the leaders of the party can confidently go among the public.
“There are a few people who’ve always done politics in the name of farmers. But the BJP has worked to alleviate the pain of farmers by understanding them,” he said.

Man transporting illicit liquor from Haryana to Delhi arrested by the Delhi police
A man has been arrested by the Delhi police on Sunday for transporting illicit liquor in a truck. The truck was painted with a logo of Mother Dairy to mislead the authorities. The truck which carrying the contraband from Haryana to Delhi had 25,000 quarter (180ml) and 600 full (750ml) bottles of liquor which has been recovered by the police.Deputy commissioner of police (southwest) Manoj C identified the arrested man as 45-year-old Nishan Singh, the driver of the truck and a resident of Punjab’s Tarn Taran Sahib. He was accompanied by his 21-year-old helper Vikash alias Chapta, a resident of Bahadurgarh in Haryana, who is yet to be arrested.Police said that they laid a trap as they received an information from their sources that a huge quantity of illicit liquor would be sent to Delhi NCR via National Highway 8 in a truck. Around 2am, they stopped a truck which looked like it ostensibly belonged to Mother Dairy, which manufactures, markets and sells milk, dairy products, edible oil and fruits and vegetables. However, when the team checked the truck, they discovered 600 cartons of illicit liquor which was for sale in Haryana. Police confirmed that the truck did not belong to Mother Dairy.Police said that the truck’s number plate was fake; they discovered its actual number after checking the engine number. They then arrested Nishan Singh and registered a case.During interrogation, Nishan Singh allegedly disclosed that he and one Vikash work for one Yogi (age unknown), who is also a resident of Bahadurgarh area, and the duo supply illicit liquor on his directions. DCP Manoj said, “Nishan was provided the said truck by Yogi’s driver near Manesar and was to supply the said liquor in Delhi as per Yogi’s instructions. We are making efforts to arrest others involved in the racket.”
Mallikarjun Kharge, Ajay Maken to meet Sonia Gandhi today over Rajasthan crisis
Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken, two Congress observers who were in Rajasthan on Sunday to attend the legislature party meeting at the home of the chief minister Ashok Gehlot, are anticipated to meet Sonia Gandhi on Monday afternoon.
With Gehlot expected to run for presidential polls next month, the state is currently dealing with a new crisis. Numerous Gehlot’s supporters resigned on Sunday and handed them to Assembly Speaker CP Joshi as a result of Sachin Pilot’s name being mentioned. The resignation is reportedly from more than 80 MLAs.
The MLAs made clear to the observers their demands, emphasising that the next chief minister should be chosen after October 19, once the party’s presidential elections are over, that the Gehlot successor should be chosen from among the roughly 102 MLAs who supported the party during the 2020 crisis, and that Ashok Gehlot should be kept informed throughout the decision-making process. They were reminding the party of Sachin Pilot’s uprising against Gehlot when he visited to Haryana by bringing up the 2020 dilemma. Later, after guarantees from the senior management, he returned.
Ajay Maken said: “We came for the CLP meeting fixed by the CM at a time and date of his choice. Very strange that MLAs didn’t come for that. We also wanted to follow the procedure of speaking to individual MLAs about what they want so that they can speak freely.”
The condition that no announcement – on the chief minister – should be made before October 19 seems to be conflict of interest as resolution authorises the Congress president to take the decision, and by October 19, Ashok Gehlot would have been the Congress president,” he further said.

The work my father had started long back, is being carried out by the Haryana Government quite efficiently.”
