Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Amol Kale has tragically passed away from a cardiac arrest in New York, USA on Monday.

He attended the Indian cricket team’s match against arch-rivals Pakistan at Nassau County Stadium in New York on Sunday, along with MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik and office-bearer Suraj Samat.

Under his leadership, Wankhede Stadium successfully hosted World Cup 2023 fixtures, including the semifinal between India and New Zealand. His innovative popcorn initiative was widely acclaimed during the international event.

Under his leadership, the domestic cricket circuit flourished, with Mumbai securing victory in the Ranji Trophy during the 2023-24 season.

Amol Kale was an integral part of the core committee of the Street Premier League and had intentions to rejuvenate the Mumbai T20 League.

He was also at the helm when the MCA made the groundbreaking decision to ensure that Mumbai players would receive match fees equivalent to what the BCCI provides to its players.

Sankay Naik, currently serving as the vice-president, is expected to assume interim leadership of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
